Well, it's not that easy Pitje. Ascent and Mangos databases aren't compatible (have different structures). They are not too different, but still, you need to do some research. Conversion Ascent DB from/to Mangos DB was an issue before, but now, I don't know 'cause I haven't checked recently.
Altough, there was a tool that worked with 3.5 stable ascent and 5254-mangos; it converts only characters; here it is:

But... mangos changes DB structure very often (and ascent maybe too), so this converter will not work for newer versions of either one. I mean, it will do conversion, but you'll need to change some stuff manually. Also, the tool is written in php, so you'll need a server (like Apache) with php support to run it. For that I recommned downloading XAMPP package (which includes Apache, php and MySQL all in one and all set and connected), google for it.
Still, the best option you have is to check with database developers (like project silvermoon and UDB) 'cause they provide databases for both servers, and if there is something like a working up to date conversion tool, then those people have it.
Also, if there is one, there is a problem if its up to date, assuming DBs structure changing rate is high.
I'm insisting on tool here 'cause converting DB manually for so many people is a job of many many hours, I guess.
Anyway, good luck with it, but I recommend starting from scratch.
