Hi! first of all thanks for the great tutorial, I was able to setup my private server in no time (well, if you do not consider the time needed to extract the maps and so on, nothing can be done about that tho!). It works perfectly but I noticed that my client ignores the realmlist file if there's an active internet connection. To be able to play on my server AND browse the internet I need to turn my NIC down, start the game and log in my server and turn the NIC up again. Is it normal?

    Thanks in advance

hm probably that's because you set blizzard updater to automatically update your wow in the background, in order to fix it without interrupting the blizzard updater :

    1. Open the realmd.conf and change the default port used by realmd from 3724 into something else and restart the realmd process

    2. open your realmlist.wtf and change your servername by using the new port specified in your realmd.conf

for example if you set the new realmd port into 9999

    mycoolwowserver.com:9999

    3. finally if you want other to be able to access your server, make sure to set up port forwarding for port 9999

    done :)

OMG, I forgot to reply to this one :) it was actually the updater. I was worried because it kept downloading the "server notices" but it actually used my realm to login. Thanks Reaper-X.
