Hiya. I have the reaper-x mangos 4875 for WoW 2.3. I'm having issues connecting to my realm when I'm hosting it. But another soul I'm doing this with, can host and connect to her own realm no prob. And I can connect to hers too. But when I set my realm up to my external IP, I am unable to connect using my external IP in my realmlist.wtf. And I get the realm loop when I set the realm to my external IP and use 127.0.0.1 or localhost in my realmlist.wtf. Please, I am very frustrated and need help. I've been working on this for 4 days now. I have a DNS through no-ip.com, but when I connect using that in my realmlist, the same thing happens as if I put my external IP there instead.

Phatty's friend here. Yeah we have been reading these forums extensively, tried every solution we think might apply to this problem, and nothing. Even tried re-installing Mangos and re-extracting files etc.
We both set this up in the exact same way and yet mine works and his does'nt. He isn't behind a router anymore, so that's not the issue.
I can connect to his realm easily when he has the IP set as his external IP or as his DNS, however he cannot connect due to the server looping back at the character list.
However he CAN connect if it's set to his LAN IP, but I can't.
I know we're missing something simple here, but after 4 days of extensive work we're both tired and not thinking straight.Posted 1 year ago » Permalink

I been getting an issue that isn't obvious or often mentioned in any real detail too.
I CAN login to my server on the SAME PC as long as I use two realms in the database, BUT you are on a separate realm to the external address which bites. No matter what I do the server machine can not login to the no-ip DNS address although I ran a WoWemu server a couple of years ago on the same PC locally and WAN no problem.
Mangos seems to be different in some way... PC is the same in every way too.
Lucky I have LAN and an old 3.4 P4 that runs like clockwork and I CAN login to my no-ip DNS. Both machines are behind the same router and the only REAL dif is that the main is a Core 2 Duo XP64bit basically.
All the standard tricks for the Hosts list make no difference to the Server PC in local mode so I just login with the other to play with my budds...
Wazzar
P.S.
XP64bit uses 2 sets of host lists too which is weird and it also has TWO versions of them in two folders which makes 4 in total although it dynamically applies edits to the different folders. (system32/drivers & sysWOW64/drivers - the files are "hfile" and "hosts")Posted 1 year ago » Permalink

Me 3. The Solutions I've discovered that worked for others don't help.
I have my DNS name in the realmlist.wtf of all those who want to connect from WAN.
My LAN IP in the realmlist.wtf for those who connect from here.
My LAN IP connected to my DNS in my HOSTS file.
(as well as the LAN IP's of the other computers here, who can all connect just fine.)BUT I'm confused and dumbfounded, because even though the ports show as open using the "uTorrent Port Checker" and that I, and my local computers can connect, that my WAN buddies cannot! The ports are clear, and forewarded, but they keep getting stuck at the realm list loop! I ran the "lan party" option and input my DNS in the proper format, (ex: mygame.game-hosts.org) but still no go. I'm a n00b programmer, but I do my best. The database login values are still set as localmachine (127.0.0.1) and I've tested setting them to my DNS, but then it (it = Realmd and Mangosd) won't login to the SQL database, even though my MySQL port is open!
And my HOSTS file reads as such: (minus dns value, excluded for privacy)
127.0.0.1 localhost
192.168.0.101 localhost
192.168.0.102 localhost
192.168.0.103 localhost
192.168.0.104 localhost
192.168.0.105 localhost
192.168.0.106 localhost
192.168.0.107 localhost
192.168.0.100 MYDNS HEREmy config's are linked here, here, and here. (ignore pw values, I changed them.)

Just a thought, do you have a dynamic or static ip? If dynamic you ought to set up a static.
Also have you tried inputting your actual ip into the database (reaper option 5/6) and using that as your realmlist?
One more thing make sure your real ip is forwarded to your lan ip (just in case) and localhost in Hosts.I've also heard that turning off NAT redirection might do the trick, however this only turned off my internet connection, so it's yours to try.
Best of luck.
