    I didn't want to make a new post, but I'm having the same problem. My Mangosd.conf is set with DataDir = "C:\WoW\Data", but I get an error that looks very similar, but with

    "Could not find vmap file 'C:\WoW\data/vmaps/530_12_43.vmdir'
    Correct *.map files not found in path 'C:\WoW\data\maps' or *.vmap/*vmdir files in 'C:\WoW\data\vmaps'. Please place *.map/*.vmap/*.vmdir files in appropriate directories or correct the DataDir value in the mangos.conf file."

    As I said, my mangosd.conf is set properly, and everything seems to be in order; except the above. Thanks for listening and please try and help if you can :]

    The problem is that you have an old version of ad.exe and the map files aren't being extracted properly. A working version can be found here:

    https://mangos.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/mangos/trunk/contrib/map_extractor/ad.exe

    Thanks, that fixed it.. kinda.
    I re-extracted it with the new ad.exe and put in the new maps folder, but now its saying:
    "Map file 'C:\WoW\Data/maps/0004331.map' is non-compatible version <outdated?> Please, create new using ad.exe program."

    Thanks for your help so far, if you have any other solutions I'd love to hear them ^^

    Make sure that you run ad.exe after you updated your client/server computer to the newest version (2.4.2) in order to get the updated maps. Then make sure you are running the newest repack version 5953 which uses those maps. And your clients are all on the same version as the server.

    Thanks, I got it fixed but I got that error about the WoW not being able to read it while trying to log in, so now I'm just trying to figure out how to install/update to the latest version, as I (for some reason) had 4875.

    Does anyone have a link to the guide on how to update it? What I'm doing is installing 5931 and updating it to 5953, but I think I'm doing it wrong.
    Sorry about bothering but I really am a newb at this -_-;;
    Thanks for all the help so far.

    http://www.reaper-x.com/2008/05/26/reaper-mangos-5953-with-scriptdev-414server-compatible-with-242-udb-only/

    I recommend doing a fresh install for 5953. The only time you actually needed to install a previous version and upgrade to get to the newest one was with 5472 to 5931. And the only reason you had to do that was because the Fresh installer in 5931 was broken. The Fresh installer in 5953 works perfectly fine.
    All you have to do is download 5953, run the setup, then use the reaper-x-mangos tool to do a fresh install. Reconfigure your mangos & realmd file, and your good to go.

    If you had characters saved in 4875 and want to preserve them then what you have to do is go through each reaper release after 4875 and use the Upgrade tool from each to migrate your characters from each reaper release. It long and tedious but works.

    Remember to not restore your backup characters after running an upgrade. Character backups are backups only for that same reaper release. The upgrade tool will properly migrate your characters into the newer release.

    Ahh, you're a lifesaver. I must have misread somewhere and thought it was the Fresh installer in 5953 that was broken. Thanks for clearing that up and providing the link.

    Bleh, one problem after another. I'm getting that error when opening mangosd or realmd;

    mangosd
    World Database: 127.0.0.1;3306;root;mangos;mangos
    ERROR:Could not connect to MySQL database at 127.0.0.1: Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)
    ERROR:Cannot connect to world database 127.0.0.1;3306;root;mangos;mangos

    and

    realmd
    Database: 127.0.0.1;3306;root;mangos;realmd
    2008-06-16 20:15:46 ERROR:Could not connect to MySQL database at 127.0.0.1: Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)
    ERROR:Cannot connect to database

    I tried looking around on the forums before asking for help (again-_- ;) , and I've found some people with similar problems, but it's never explained how to fix it.
    Really sorry, but I'm so close to getting it finished and don't want to quit now ><;

    Check your username and password in your mangos config, realmd config, and scriptdev2 file.
    LoginDatabaseInfo = “127.0.0.1;3306;root;[PASSWORD];realmd”
    WorldDatabaseInfo = “127.0.0.1;3306;root;[PASSWORD];mangos”
    CharacterDatabaseInfo = “127.0.0.1;3306;root;[PASSWORD];characters”

    Right now your config file is detecting your username as 'root' and your password as 'mangos'. Change it to whatever your username (most likely root) and password.

    That fixed it daggo, I wasn't going to change it until I heard someone suggest I should.
    You guys are of great help, my server is up and running smooth.
    Now I just need to scan these forums for topics on how to fix non-attacking creatures.

    Robine, i think you are using the Arcane-fire repack version. This is a known issue and Oatman has released a fix. it can be found on the site where you can DL arc/fire. Download and apply.

    hmm does someone know the answer on this??

    Some required *.dbc files (1 from 52) not found or not compatible:
    C:\Program Files\Reaper-X\Reaper MaNGOS 5953\data/dbc/Spell.dbc (exist, but have 216 fields instead 213) Wrong client version DBC file?
