*ISSUE RESOLVED* So, I setup my server today and played on it, everything was going great. Up until my girlfriend tried to connect on the computer next to me. I gave her my LAN address, she logged into the server, was asked to select between us realm and what type like pvp, etc. She selected us and suggest realm. It brought up the realm name and she clicked okay on it, then it said connecting and you can see the character screen in the background. Then it pops up the realm list again, she clicks okay and it just does the same thing over and over and over. She is unable to access character select screen, because the choose realm window keeps popping up over and over and over. My install went perfect, no errors. I am not behind a router that I know of, but I do have Qwest DSL. I have tried disabling windows firewall on both computers, connecting them directly, using the LAN address and the WAN address for my server in her realmlist. I can connect fine to my own server on the pc it is running from. I can do this with loopback address, LAN or WAN address just fine. I am running Reaper Mangos 5225-Easy WoW 2.3.3 private server on Windows XP SP 2. Anybody out there that can help, it would be much appreciated.

Ok for like the hundreth time posting this in the forum.
Setting up for connection over the internet.
If you want people to be able to hit your server over the internet your public internet IP address or DNS name should be in the realmd sql data base in the realmlist table. Set up this way to have people connecting over the internet place your public internet ip address or DNS name in there realmlist.wtf file. For people to connect over the lan put the ip address of the computer that has mangos on it in the realmlist.wtf file. To play on the computer that has mangos on it put 127.0.0.1 or localhost in the realmlist.wtf file.
Setting up for lan connection only.
If you want people to be able to hit your server over the lan put the ip address of the computer that has mangos on it in the realmd sql data base in the realmlist table. You can use option #5 of the reaper-x-mangos to set the ip address in the realmd sql data base.
Or you can edit the realmlist table in the realmd sql data base with a program like SQLyog or Navicat.Posted 2 years ago » Permalink

Did what you said but still no go.
I can login via LAN, I get the realm list, I can see the name of the realm and that I have 1 character on it, but when I try and connect it starts to connect and then drops me right back the to realm selection screen again.

Update.
Connections from outside my LAN work fine. I can connect on my LAN but only from the computer hosting mangos, other computers on my LAN can login, get a realm list, but can't seem to connect to the realm.
The Burning Crusade also does not seem to be working, I know I enabled it but I'll check again.

Update #2
I still have the issue with not being able to connect from another LAN machines.
Burning Crusade it working.
All Zones are contested, probably a configuration issue, I know I set up for a PVP server.
All mobs are yellow, I'm not sure why this is.

All mobs are yellow because I am a GM.

Are you using a static ip address or a dynamic ip address on the host computer?

NO.. even for your LAN your "other" LAN members need to pointing to your "outside" IP address if you set it up for "Internet" play

Connections from other LAN computers to the mangos server is FIXED, finally. The answer was found in this thread..
The key line I picked up on was:
"The host file on the “Internet” PCs do not need to be changed, only the LAN PCs host files need to be adjusted as shown above"
I needed to add:
192.168.x.x my.mangos.server
to my CLIENTS hosts file, NOT the MANGOS servers hosts file.
