    Hello everyone,

I'm fairly new to this, got my server up and running with arcane-fire about two weeks ago thanks to a lot of the posts here.

My problem is I downloaded the new patch today and was in the official game, but I am unable to get my private server working.

I assume I need to revert back to a previous patch but am not sure how to do that, any help would be appreciated.

Same problem, although I thought I was safe by using two different installations in two different hard-disks.
Apparently the game automatically decided that BOTH versions had to be updated to the new patch thus screwing my private server.

Well, I'm in the process of redownloading all the patches.
I found this from sifting through other posts here to keep from downloading patches you don't want.

"To prevent your patch from upgrading dont use your WoWLauncher but
WoW.exe from your WoW Folder. Because the one in your desktop
    is the Launcher"

    Hope it helps

You should not have to reinstall Mangos from scrath. All you need to do is revert your wow.exe back to the patch that was working with your mangos file. Once you have done that you should be able to log onto your server.
I am hoping a stable update for the new patch comes out soon so I can update and play on the new patch.

    step 1) rename your wow.exe to woworig.exe
    step 2) run repair.exe
step 3) repatch back up to 2.4.3 (or something)
step 4) edit your realmlist.wtf; change the pathclist to 127.0.0.1 to prevent autopatching.
step 5) play on your server once more :D

ok i looked everywhere and everyone says the same thing.
    this is my problem.
rename wow.exe to woworig.exe >run repair. result= repair downloads and creates a new wow.exe file so now i have both exe files with 2 different names.wow.exe and woworig.exe.
I already deleted patch.mpq and ran repair which reverted me back to patch 3.01 problem is i want to go back one more patch to 2.4.3 but there is no mpq files in data folder anymore because i already deleted them, and renaming wow.exe will result in the above mentioned.
so i tried i done a quick system restore which worked great i was back on 2.4.3 but it wont run , so i do another repair it says "wow is damaged and needs to revert back to earlier version" ok so ilet it run and the patch description says reverting back to patch 2.0.1 which would be great then all i have to do is patch back up to 2.4.3 and i can now play on private server again.. except when i let it finish repairing , instead of reverting back to patch 2.0.1 like it said it was doing ...it patched back up to 3.0.1 alas leaving me back where i started before restore..
/pulls hair out! so basically even if im on a earlier patch 2.0.1 repair will patch me back to 3.0.1 what can i do ?? remove teh patch files in my wow folder so it has no record of newer patches ? im not sure if that will work or it will instead download the new patch when i repair .

It seems theyve updated the repair tool. I feared as much. Im afraid youll have to reinstall wow and patch it to 2.4.3 manually. Then change your patchlist to 127.0.0.1

    If you go to....

You can download the patches manually and for me, it was much much faster to download them that way. Also, I created a root folder on the drive called "wow patches" and made it shareable. so any wow installation that has to be reinstalled, I wouldn't have to redownload them again.

so basically i have to go out and buy new cd's just so i can revert back to patch 2.4.3 because the cd's which are now 3-4 years old are not readable in my cd drive anylonger "even though they dont seem that damaged grrr"

i found a fix i unistalled wow and all of its components and no longer have it on my system ,problem solved! what a waste of time and money this stupid bugged crappy game is anyway. and i bet blizz thought i would go back to retail by making this stupid unrevertable new patch thinking i would get pissed off trying and just pay to play again.i wouldn't play retail if it was free it sucks , its slow , its boring completely designed to use up your paid time. all about "making money" rather than making it fun and not take up your life.

    or... You can:
    1. Download the cd images (called ISO's) through blizzards site or bittorrents.
    2. Mount the ISO cd images to a virtual cd drive using Daemon or Power iso. Install
    3. Let it automatically patch up to the desired revision or manually download the patches and do it manually

When patching, stop it from automatically downloading and patching past to where you want. You might want to try disconnecting the Internet when patching manually. Be sure to alter you realmlist
before reconnecting else it will run the auto updated
