Hunter Pet & Quest Glitches...

   My friend and I have been playing revision 5472 (All Hail Reaper!), and we've both been noticing some glitches with the Hunter's Pet AI. As my friend says, "it has ADHD." Sometimes pet must be clicked to attack multiple times (or else it goes off and finds daisies, or something).

   Also, I've noticed (after making a BloodElf) that there are numerous quests in the Blood Elf area (specifically in the forest surrounding Silvermoon City) that are glitched. Mainly has to do with events that are supposed to take place (i.e., the spawning of mobs) and do not.

   My question for both of these glitches is: Are they self-treatable? I have no doubt that Reaper works very hard at what he does, and if it is possible to fix it myself (either by altering server settings or adding possible missing sql files) then I will happily do so. Thanks very much in advance.

   what database are you using, silvermoon or udb?

   Currently I'm using udb, as I wanted something that was a little closer to the original WoW.

   The problem is with the scriptdev2 5472 is part of the conversion of scriptdev2 from core control to sql control. Your basicly going to have to wate for reapers next repack release or compile your own mangos. Right know the scriptdev2 conversion to sql control is about 75% complete.

   Oh, alright. I suppose I should ask the obligatory question, "Are the rest of you (who actually have working copies and are not stumped on installation, etc.) experiencing relatively-problem-free gaming?

   For example, (for me) in the quest "The Defias Brotherhood," when you must escort the Defias Traitor to Deadmines, you accept the quest from him, and he doesn't move at all (at least for me). I've tried moving him to the Deadmines (where the quest is supposed to end) and still to no avail (though I figured it wouldn't work, as it has to do with a scripted event, not a mere location).

   Also, the Hunter pet (again, for me) seems to move "oddly." I say this because (for a cat, for example) instead of having the usual "run" animation, it uses the walk animation in a run-like speed (does that make sense?).

   Just curious if any of the rest of you are experiencing these (relatively minor) anomalies. And also, Thank you very much for the replies, both before this post and afterward.

   Yes, people on my server have been reporting similar problems with their pets, not to mention much more. I actually find it supprising that there aren't more complaints on this about very prodominant glitches in the game. Certain spells don't work at all, some quests are impossible to complete, communication to certain key npc's doesn't work, etc.

   If I actually thought that there would be ways to fix these problems then I would actually make a list, but for now I think I'll wait for the v2.4.1 package to come out before I waste my time. Then I'll see what was fixed and go from there.

   All these problems are based from info in the Db, So report them to the UDB website. I'm sure most of them have been fixed by now, since Reaper's last Repack used a much older version. I've written a Guide to installing MaNGOS for 2.4.1. Check it out!

   Hunter should learn the growl 1 and growl 2 pet skills when turning in the quest "Training The Beast" after doing the 3 "Taming the Beast" quests, but does not. The huter does get the player skill beast training, but no pet skill growl 1 or 2. I believe this to be a DB issue but wanted to see if anyone else is noticing that on their server too.

   This must be an error in the Project Silvermoon DB, when I reloaded my DB using UDB and tested, it worked fine.

    Yeah, using UDB and my hunter pets sometimes wander off or stop attacking for no apparent reason. But that's easily dealt with.
    At least they don't start attacking ME anymore. ^^ Now THAT used to be a bad glitch. My crab killed me about 10 times and I started to become paranoid about what it was doing behind my back. XD

    As for some quests not working right, that's a given. There will always be some that simply do not work out. With GM privileges you can at least grant yourself the reward since you actually did the questwork and deserve it.

    You may want to start a new thread, also including what version of mangos you are currently using. You won't be able to just upgrade your SQL databases, you will have to upgrade the MaNGOS core as well. What version are you currently running?
