How do I change a character's race?

More specifically, I'd like to create a Tauren Warlock. I'm sure if I messed with .morph I'd eventually find a Tauren model, but then the apperance wouldn't change with updated gear.

Is there some config file I can get into?

Ok, so I found a unique fix.

There's a spell (ID# 37810) that creates the illusion of being Tauren. It doesn't break on.. damage, zone-change, spell cast... etc etc etc. It lasts until canceled... so pretty neat. And of course, most importantly, your gear is properly reflected.

At this point all you have to do is learn the racials with .learn. I suppose there's a small discrepancy with stats, but it's pretty minor.

Oh, neat. Did you find any spells for the other races? And I suppose you do not get to choose the actual looks of the model, do you?

Or wait, did you mean you can use that spell to morph into a model you specify? :O

There are a few other spells, Human and Gnome. There are a LOT of them total, but not all of them will work as well as those 3.

If you do a spell search, either in client or on Thottbot (or with MangAdmin) keep an eye out for spells that are tagged as 'Illusion TEST'.

Unfortunately, you don't get to customize the character you get, however, the features you picked for the original character will influence what you get from the spell. And even though it won't show on the character selection screen, if you had the illusion running when you logged off, it'll still be on when you get back on.

Whoa, I have been playing around with the .morph command and it's great for what I want. (Basically a prettier sprite for those times when the best armor makes my character look like a pumpkin. XD)

I wouldn't even have considered this without this topic, so thanks for bringing it up!
