    Hey, I previously made a Mangos server and it worked great, got tried of it and bought a new pc. Now, I want to make it again but I forgot how to do everything. I got the MaNGOS 2.0.10 and it works. Once I open my "MaNGOS Control panel" I created a realm, by entering the name and the ip address. For my ip address, I went into the command prompt, typed cmd> ipconfig and got my ip address. Now I have my realm created with the name/ip address. Now for Wow itself, I changed the realmlist.wtf to set realmlist <My ip address>. When I go and open Wow. I type in my account name/password that i created with MaNGOS and it stops at <Handshaking>... a few steps from <Success>...

    Anyway I really hope someone can read this and help me, its driving me nuts.

    well, there is a couple things completely wrong....
    First, download the newest Reaper-X repack.
    Then Download WoW BC, burning crusade, you need this or it just wont work. because were on patch 2.4.2 now.
    I have no idea what you mean my mangos control panel since reaper doesnt have a repack with a control panel.
    once you do all that, then ask some more questions when you get the correct stuff.

    I already have wow bc, and has the newest patch. And I dont know where to find the newest Reaper-x repack, so if you dont mind sending me a link. For the control panel, I got a packed Mangos by a guy named "dj execute". Thats the only type of mangos file that I have. So maybe, from what I understand, I must download a new Mangos, the newly updated one? And thanks to reply, i wasn't thinking of getting one that quick.

    first question?
    why are you coming to a reaper-x mangos support forum and asking about a repack that nobody here knows about.
    because that mangos is for patch 2.0.12. lol
    but here you go
    http://www.reaper-x.com/2008/07/11/mangos-6245-udb-psdb-scriptdev2-r474/
    thats the newest!

    Well to be honest, this is the only place where I found decent information, although it wasn't what I have. Thanks for the link. So with the link that you gave me, I can install it from scratch, meaning its the newest program and not the newest update? And I didn't really try anything shown on the page yet, but everything should be on it, right? And sorry if I ask newbie questions, I'm not familiar with the reaper-x version. Actually its a little confusing but if I carefully read step by step I should be fine. Appreciate it again =D

    lol, its ok, this is the only website with decent anything for mangos. the next best thing is to compile it urself. which isnt fun, trust me.
    but yes everything u need should be on that page.
    yes, read carefully.

    so just to clarify things, I download the newest reaper-x and on that page, everything, a-z should be on it, meaning that i don't have to download anything else? (except for MyQL)

    And I'm shooting another noob question..watch out. what do you mean by compile, do you mean everything in the command prompt or I'm way off?

    What he means is that the only other option than here really, is to build or 'compile' a version of MaNGoS by yourself, a significantly harder task than just using Reaper's version. It refers to the process of taking the raw data and turning it into a program that you can run basically. Yes Reaper-X, MySQL & WoW is all you need to set up your server, follow the step by step instructions on this site and you should be fine.

    Is there anyway of not compiling anything, and yes I know im lazy BUT! I just want the easiest and fastest way, but effective way of getting my own private server up and running. So from what I understand, Reaper-X is pretty much the server emulator, so with MySQL nad WoW BC I should be able to get it working. For Wow Bc, I have the newest patch that came out this week, and for MySQL, I have Navicat,im not sure if this is a good or bad MySQL; if you have any suggestion to any "better" MySQL, let me know. No offense avelmaris, but im no computer genius; you can admit it... and I dont have the patience to create Mangos. So from what I understand from avelmaris and IntErlOpr, Reaper-X is mangos already compiled for me. If its the case Let me know, and it be very generous to post a link with the right page; the newest edition please.

    LOL......I actually had to read this entire set of post twice....and laugh......so hard I cried. I love you guys, Reaper & Oatman, the above read to me like classic comedy. Thanks for the great forums you provide.

    IntErlOpr & avelmaris, thank you for the input and help you guys provide, have either of you compiled MaNGOS or any other program before ?

    julien --

    use Reapers link below & Follow the steps to install everything you need.
    Yes it is good you have Navicat, but that is simply an interface to manage you SQL databases and tables, you'll need that later to manage your SQL installation. Now..... not getting technical at all -- you need three things
    1. Some version of SQL installed and running http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/
    2. WoW version 2.4.2
    3. Reapers newest repack. http://www.reaper-x.com/2008/07/11/mangos-6245-udb-psdb-scriptdev2-r474/

    Ok, now I really feel like a big noob. when I went to install MySQL, it worked; so I went on to configure it as shown on the link you suggest.
    When I was Processing configuration all three worked except <Apply security settings>. The error was the following.
    < The securitu settings could not be applied
    Error Number 1045.
    Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)>

    I looked it up on the website of this MySQL. It says that the error occurs when your TCP port isn't opened 3306. I opened it and still doesn't work

    Does the Security settings affects everything, or its useless.

    it's something simple..........help guys.. I had this one as well, and now , staring at the problem, can't remember anything. Yes port 3306 should be open if you are using an "outside" connection to your database(s). Try reseting your SQL password and then setting the configuration again.

    I've had it to and also can't remember exactly what caused it :) just uninstall MySQL and reinstall it's a quick process and you don't have to reset to do it. In answer to your question Remar yes I've done a little coding/compiling before, nothing too advanced but I've dabbled in QBasic, VB, Pascal & C mostly. Just a few little programs here and there.

    Nice IntErlOpr, very nice. It does help to have a little coding/compiling experience, and to make it easy....lol.

    julien. -- yeah, just re-install SQL, and make sure you delete the old SQL folder before installing it again, because it keeps old password/setup in the orig install folder

    Aright, I installed MySQL with the sollution you guys suggested. I was able to go all the way to step 7; the step that you have run mangosd.exe and realmd.exe from your mangos directory. But when I run does, I said the following

    < Could not connect to MySQL database at 127.0.0.1: Access denied for user 'root' @ 'localhost' <using password: YES> >

    It said that both in the mangosd.exe and the realmd.exe

    what do I do to sold this

    ok now i want you to edit your .conf files ok.
    those are the files in the reaper directory you have. so if its C drive, it would be C:/reaper or whatever you named it.
    the files Mangosd.conf realmd.conf and scriptdev2.conf
    for mangosd.conf you basically want this set up.

    RealmID = 1
    DataDir = "C:\wow\data"
    LogsDir = ""
    LoginDatabaseInfo = "127.0.0.1;3306;root;[password];realmd"
    WorldDatabaseInfo = "127.0.0.1;3306;root;[password];mangos"
    CharacterDatabaseInfo = "127.0.0.1;3306;root;[password];characters"
    MaxPingTime = 30
    WorldServerPort = 8085
    BindIP = "0.0.0.0"

    im guessing when you installed mysql you left the name as root and then the password is whatever you chose
    datadir = the directory you put the dbc's and the maps.

    for realmd.conf you want this
    you only need to change the first line..
    LoginDatabaseInfo = "127.0.0.1;3306;root;[password];realmd"

    root and your password again.

    then the scriptdev2.conf
    just do the same thing, make sure it says your name and then your password.

    i hope this helps you out.

    From what I understand, the .conf where setup for a different password.
    So where you say the [password] from, for example <127.0.0.1;3306;root;[password];realmd">
    I write my password that I choose.

    I put my password and it still doesn't work, does the same thing. unless I have to re-setup so stuff from earlier steps.

    Ok, I got to run the mangosd.exe and realmd.exe but, but idk where to create my user name. I'm unable to type in the mangosd. Also, I went to play normal wow, as in the real blizzard wow; for some reason it says
    <The Blizzard Laucher must be in the same folder as World of Warcraft.

    And is there any link for guide on how to create more that one account, and is there a way of creating them on the internet for one of my friend. (and yes I'm aware that it is violating the mangos terms)

    @ avelmaris -- cool, the c++ knowledge is great, because it gives you at least a basis to understand other prog. languages.

    @ julien -- 1.You should be able to type in the mangosd.exe window, without a website interface for accounts that is where you will have to manually create everyone's account.
    2. as long as you're not charging your friends then who cares, use your "outside" IP address when you setup your game for LAN with the reaper-x.bat program.
    3. the other is called "retail WoW" because you pay for it, and I am not sure about the prob your having there because so long as you change your realmlist.wtf file to point to the appropriate server, i.e. yours, or retail , then everything should work fine for playing retail or private.

    if in the end you get aggravated, you need to http://forums.reaper-x.com/topic/guide-for-new-install and it works with version 6245 & will give you a website so your friends can create their own accounts.

    second question first... in the setup program that you ran to install mangos you will use it to "setup for lan play" or something like that. that sets your realms IP address and your realms name

    and I am not sure how you are gonna copy paste the info if you cant even type in the mangos program window... is it giving any errors ?
