Running 5472, when i create a 2nd character on the server, the characters don't show up in the character selecter anymore. Everything else appears to run fine. I am running Unified. There must be a setting someonewhere in the confuguration. Can't figure out what.

    Thanks.

I've got the exact same problem. Tried both 5116 and 5472, both Unified and Silvermoon. Running SQL Server 6.0 on WinXP Pro.

There are no SQL errors dumped to the logs, and I see nothing wrong with the table structure, etc. In fact, I see nothing wrong at all, except for the fact that when a 2nd char is created on the server (regardless of which account it is created on), characters no longer appear on the select list for any account.

I'm going to try and downgrade to SQL Server 5.0.

From the installation guide: "Important: Grab the version 5.0 setup.exe version instead of 5.1 or 6.0 because the 5.1 series is still in Release Candidate stage while the 6.0 version is still at early alpha stage and not recommended for production use"

Based on this, I suspect the changes between 5.0 and 6.0 could be contributing to this error, if not causing them all together. I'll post and update on my findings.

I fully intend on making this a public realm, and I've got a lot of heavy support behind this project, so I'm very serious about getting this nailed down. I'm sure you all will be hearing a lot from me in the future.

    UPDATE!!

Solved the problem by downgrading from MySQL6.0 to MySQL5.0. Keep in mind when downgrading versions of SQL: If you use the server for anything OTHER then Mangos, DON'T UNINSTALL 6.0!! You can install 5.0 to a different directory and with a different Windows Service name (MySQL5 instead of MySQL, for example). This method allows you to run 6.0 for whatever you need, and 5.0 for Mangos.

Also keep in mind if you decide to drop 6.0 for 5.0 entirely: Please remember that without rebooting, the MySQL service will NOT be removed from the Services list (services.msc). This will cause issues during installation of 5.0!! So, if installing 5.0 after uninstalling 6.0, simply name the service MySQL5! Also, you may need to select a different port if you didn't reboot, as 3306 will still be bound to 6.0's service.

So, in conclusion, set the service name to MySQL5 and the port to 3307 (or whatever you want). Remember to update your realmd.conf and mangosd.conf files to reflect the new port!!! (3307).

    Any questions?

Thank you for the response, however; i was running MySql 5 anyway. I'll never know the answer to this maybe, but I did manage to fix the problem. Just went to the mangos forums, followed their tutorial for windows installation, and compiled myself. It was quite easy, and fast. I don't know if this is just me, but building the database from reaper took about 8 hours. When i compiled it myself, i completed the entire process in under 3 hours. If I did it again, i could probably do it in less than an hour and a half. I learned ALOT about the wow database during the process. Enough to do my own custom tweaks, and keep my updates as up to date as physically possible by reading the UDB, mangos and scriptdev2 forums. They are very helpful. If I can compile my own wow database, anyone who knows what a database is can.
