    hello
i'm a little new to this but i managed to install correctly the 5953 release and get it working with wow 2.4.2 on the same computer as where the server is.
I want to play with friends with other computer in LAN and i installed wow 2.4.2 on another.
i modified the realmlist as that :
set realmlist 192.168.1.12 (it is the local ip of my computer where the server is).

and when i launch wow i can enter my id and password (yes it accept them) and then the program ask me to select a realm
then i see my realm (the only one that exist: "MaNGOS") and if i select it, it closes the window then open it again not ever going to my characters list.
i don't know what to do probably something to configure in a conf file but i can't see what.

btw i used that realmlist for the original computer :
    set realmlist 127.0.0.1
and it work i didnt even tried to set it with the "real" LAN ip (192.168.1.12)
my other computer with the problem has the ip 192.168.1.13

so if anyone has an answer to this problem i'd really appreciate it
    thanks for reading anyway
    see you soon

The ip address '127.0.0.1' and 'localhost' are your loopback addresses which means it redirects traffic directly to itself. That is the reason why it will only work on the same computer that is running MaNGOS.

If you want other LAN computers to connect, set your realmd, mangosconfig, and scriptdev2 all set to 127.0.0.1 or localhost and run the setup lan option in the reaper-x-mangos tool. Then your realmlists on other computers in your lan should read:
    set realmlist 192.168.1.12
if that is the ip of yuor server. Also make sure that your firewall is not blocking port 8085 or 3724.

If you are still having trouble connect, a good alternative would be to try and use your Private/External ip address. Figure this out at WhatsMyIP.org
Then in your router, you will need to forward ports 8085 and 3724 to ip 192.168.1.12 (your mangos server) and have your realmlists read
set realmlist x.x.x.x <-----external ip address
then run the setup lan option and use your External ip address when prompted

i also don't want to use my external IP because it implies that i must open the ports to the outside of my LAN and my ISP doesn't provide me a fixed IP so every 24h my IP is changing then i ought modify my realmlists every day...

    Hello
after some thought and checking on the site i found that i only forgot to use the 6th item menu (6 configure your wow realm for lan party and your realm name) in the reaper-x-mangos.bat file
    when i set my server.
now that is done everything work just fine thanks to you all guys
that was something i forgot because in the first place i only installed the server to see if i was able to do it alone on one conputer only (as a test let's say) but now that i tried it i found it so great that i play to wow again (the too long time elapsed to get xp to level is gone since i can change the xp rate)
    thanks again
