AMEN !! User Account Control is the first thing turned off

@madwolf
Thanks for the heads up about the beta driver being more stable, I am sure as it comes into more fullstream use the drivers base will have stabilzed, like I have said before, video drivers are there biggest concern because of moving to DX 11 and Win XP is DX 9.... since no one moved to Vista ( 9 to 12% penetration into market) and hence DX 10 (flop itself) they are having a hard time with video support from the diehard XP fans. ( I was one btw, but now Win 7 and IE8 have swept me off of my feet)

P.S. Noone should be installing programs into the "program files" folder anymore, that was Vista's biggest problem. Noone realized that Vista was restricting access to that folder, and was storing program settings in a users folder. WARNING - Win 7 does the same thing, so I suggest you NOT install anything to the program files folder. Doing so will cause a "split installation" anytime you install something , as it is saving your configuration in the users folder.

".....so if u ppl say its good i think im up for it....so gimme some hints of wat i heard and how u work on it like if its good or bad or such"

Oh yeah, it's good.... however .... it may not work well with some older hardware. Video cards in particular because of MS moving on to Direct X 11.

@ Nexus2322
Yeah I remember "Longhorn" since we had it in college in the tech dept. (hell we had every piece of MS software) and they crapped it up and released it as Vista....lol. I have had good and bad with Vista, but 7 seems to take care of all of that. An OS that can scale itself to the machine it's on, and is very network aware.

I have used the beta before. i got a BSOD once but i think it had to do with my video card drivers (recurring issue?) i am currently downloading the RC, my problem is that the base i live at in Iraq has really slow interenet lol.. anyway, back on subject, while the beta i used was very stable, im waiting to pat MS on the back till after it has been released.. after i have my hands on a retail version... the reason i say this is anyone remember " project longhorn" it was supposed to be vista's beta.. it ran beautifully.. and well vista just sucks.. i dont know what happend there but the release just didnt fit the beta.. just my 2 cents i guess..

Currently have been using Win 7 since RC1 came out. No problems whatsoever. nVidia has a stable Win 7 driver out and all my other drivers are working okay in compatibility mode. I applaud Microsoft for doing this well of a job, and its still not even out yet. Definitely gonna have to think about buying Windows for the first time ever

Ok... after 1 month of testing the only problem I find is that since the video drivers are XDDM instead of WDDM I obviously can't run the aero interface. I knew that would happen on my machine since the radeon 9250 can really only handle DirectX 9. The big problem with this is an extra fan on the video card only helps a little, the more graphics intensive games that I run, that faster the video card overheats/locks up. I get anywhere from 4 to 10 hours uptime depending on what I am doing. ...... will be getting new parts (mobo,proccesor,powersupply) as soon as I can. My overall vote on Windows 7 two thumbs up or
8 out of 10 stars. And with the annouced upgrade price being approximately only 90 USD , Microsoft may have finally gotten the core build right, for the right price.

Hello all. I have recently smoothed out an install of widows 7. This is a dual boot machine. I did not have a dvd burner, so I used a virtual drive manager to mount the Win 7 install ISO, and then installed it to it's own drive ( D: on my system ). The main OS is Win XP pro, fully updated. The secondary OS is Win 7 RC1. I had to jump thru a few hoops to find and install video drivers for my video card, but so far it has been worth it. The only thing it will not install drivers for, besides my add-in video card, is the built in video chipset, and the add-in sound card. After searching I found a driver that worked fine with the add in video card, and the rest was easy (so to speak). My dxdiag text is below, and I will help anyone that needs it for setting up Win 7.
