@ gothteen ... well you may be right on some systems. I however have had absolutely no problems running IE8 under windows 7. No bugs, no problems, no BSOD....ever..... and I have been running win 7 / IE8 for over 4 months now. My only technical problem is my video card isn't supposed to support DX 10 or 11, and really it doesn't. But I only get a problem in graphics intensive games where after 4 or more hours I have overheated the vid card, and it does a memory dump and reloads windows. Otherwise, no problems, no glitches, no bugs, no BSOD. And I, like others, have tweaked my IE8 install to only do what I need it to, no annoying pop-ups, limited flash banners (only when I allow them on per site basis, or or if I have allowed pop-ups + flash media to run on a given site). I know alot of people are not gonna like this, but Win 7 with IE 8 is just fine. (english language) Matter of fact, I think micro-crap has finally gotten it right with Win 7 / IE 8. But since I only have a BA in Computer Technology, I dont know much

@ Aekom your post assumes web users have much if any brains at all, and uh, firefox is just a bad, if not worse about fixing known bug/security holes in thier browser.....thats why I stopped using it altogether.

Go with Firefox and the Ad-Block Plus addon.

It's all you need in a browser, it blocks out 99% of adverts and popups, you wont get any bloat toolbars and useless features that slow down the comp like you would with others.

People with brains always use this setup.

I have to dis-agree with Veteran, ie8 is an enjoyable tour full of bugs, pc blackouts, bsod's (didn't know they existed on Windows 7 and windows vista, but hey, mister gates still give us some great stuff that does not work for the first 3 years or so, so i have to give him some slack).

I stick with Firefox and opera, chrome is something i dont use, i guess i hate google to much or something, vinden.nl is the search page here in holland, witch i use all of the time (links opens in new pages and thats what i need )

1st - sorry it's been so long since I have replied to anything.
2nd - thank-you for your input, this just goes to show that with your own tweaking most anything can (and will) work.
3rd - Iron ?

I use Firefox with Adblock Plus and NoScript installed. There are two reasons:

1) AdBlock and NoScript get rid of the popups and animated banners I hate so much.
2) Security. NoScript stops any hostile java apps, drive-by web pages, and the like from even getting a shot at my system. Furthermore, IE is too tightly tied into the OS for me to trust exposing it to the outside world.

The downside is that I have to grant javascript permission to sites that need it on a per-site basis. It's a pain, but I think it's worth avoiding those stupid Flash emoticon adds that scream hello at me every time my mouse goes over them on the way someplace else. I really, really hate those things.

Not bad at all.. Thank-you Reaper. I appreciate the fact that you guys put for what purpose you use the browsers mentioned. I would have to agree about which browser for what use. I also use Firefox as my default everyday browser, but like Reaper I have tweaked Firefox to speed up its display. I use IE only for updating windows and logging into my online WoW account, or if Firefox won't load a page or allow me to run software for install without saving it first (what a pain). Also I have to say it has been a long time since someone mention Safari to me.

So for our list we have Opera, Firefox, IE, Safari, and Chrome thus far. anyone else ?

Firefox mostly because i can do various things that can't be done (easily perhaps) in other browsers beside i've tweaked it. Although sometime i do use Opera, Safari, IE (depending on the website), and Google Chrome

But for browsing saved pages i choose Opera

Opera, for years now.

But, sometimes, I try others too, just to be up to date with competing technology, and if something better comes up I'll take it.

But, still nothing better than Opera for me.

Why?

For me (on my comp, anyway) it's the fastest out there, had tabs for centuries, built in email client, built in support for torrent, like the look of it, ... and many more other stuff. I even use Opera on my cellphone.

Best regards...

With some recent security concerns, and the fact that some friends of mine were on the team helping work the bugs out of "Chrome", I had to stop and take a look at what browser I really used and liked the most. I would ask anyone who reads to post what browser they use and why.
