Post current system specs please.

Start up World of warcraft and pirates online and check your ram utilage via system monitor. If your ram is maxed out, your computer will resort to memory swapping which means that it will use a part of the hard disk as ram and then in turn slow down performance. If it is not utilizing all the ram, then your fine, go with the video card. The video card will give you a more direct boost in performance. Video cards take the load off of your native cpu and ram and render games/movies seperately. So in short, unless your computer isnt starving of ram, go with a video card.

I'm looking into upgrading my CPU to improve my gming speed on games like Pirate online and of course World of Warcraft. I have 512 MB of ram but I'm not sure what video card i have etc etc. All I know is that on especially Pirates Online, the lag is bad enough that I really want to upgrade and I'm tired of low graphics settings. What would be better for me to upgrade, my video card, or my ram, because I know 512 isn't all that much. Any ideas?
