are they *.config or *.conf
from above it shows realmd.config, scriptdev.config, mangos.config etc...

they should have the extension
*.conf (not config)
if they are disregard this

Ok I am using Navicat and it does read my mangos,realmd,scriptdev,and characters files. The realmd.config and mangos.config files are setup as follows:

mangos.config

DataDir = "C:\WOW\Mangos\Data"<-where my Vmaps and everything else is located.
LogsDir = ""
LoginDatabaseInfo     = "127.0.0.1;3306;root;password;realmd"
WorldDatabaseInfo     = "127.0.0.1;3306;root;password;mangos"
CharacterDatabaseInfo = "127.0.0.1;3306;root;password;characters"

realmd.comfig:

LoginDatabaseInfo = "127.0.0.1;3306;root;password;realmd"

scriptdev.config:

ScriptDev2DatabaseInfo     = "127.0.0.1;3306;root;password;scriptdev2"

But everytime I try to load mangos or realmd it flashes and goes away. My WOW realmlist.config is set to 127.0.0.1 In Navicat I have changed the realmlist name to MARS and the server to 127.0.0.1 just like the only forum I read on how to install the program. Any help as into why realmd nor mangos will not load?
Cannot create A user name and password until I can get these to load. Not getting any errors tried to create A logs file to see if there was an error and nothing. If you can help thank you. Not really A noob @ mangos last version I have installed was reaper-x mangos 5225. Just now getting back into mangos and everything has changed not sure how to load this new version.

Thank you,
hardly - those are mine

what files? I only update the mangos database and recompile about once a week.

I also send update fixes to psdb (see rikigamer) as well.

@mArTiAn
don't need them. just put it all in a server folder, then import the files with navicat(or sqlyog) - and play.

@ Unknown 60

Been doing a lot of reading on the Acid forum. It sounds like you need to do both SD2 and then Acid. Good link that shows how they work together:

http://www.scriptdev2.com/difference-between-sd2-t2153.html

Quote:
I think you should consider ACID as a part of SD2, instead of pretending to say ACID is really a single standalone project.

Basically ACID will take care of most creatures and simple spells cast by creatures. If a creature has some hard phases or some extraordinary event it will be the C++ section that takes care of it.

ACID = Easy, not very complex, mob scripting.
SD2 C++ = Harder, complexer, mob and event scripting.

That sums it up nicely. ACID is a part of ScriptDev2.

@cptKirk Post 59
I decided against ytdb because DK area is not working (you cant leave the upper area) Hopefully pryde will return to help you with that one - he uses yt and udb both.

post 58
If you are compiling in windows - i found out you dont need to patch
#3 is for making your db called ScriptDev2 but you probably already have it - so you can skip this.
#4 just import the file
Acid is just like yt, udb and psdb, the only difference is they focus on the scripdev2. so all their releases pertain to that.
Now I am still learning so am confused on one part. sd2 is compliled which in turn changes the mangosscript.dll(thats why you have to do sd2 after mangos compile) but now sure how acid interacts with this. In other words can you simply skip the sd2 and just acid?

@unknown

I'm trying to go solo as well. For ScriptDev2 I've gotten it to compile now. I found the same link you did on their site. I've started to put together a step-by-step for the whole process from start to finish. Here is what I did for SD2.

001	Checkout the ScriptDev2 trunk from http://scriptdev2.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/scriptdev2.tar.gz?view=tar
002	Extract the files and copy \ScriptDev2 to "src\bindings\ScriptDev2"
003	Open a git bash at "src\"
004	Apply the Git patch to Mangos - "git am bindings/ScriptDev2/patches/MaNGOS-XXXX-ScriptDev2.patch" ('XXXX' is revision number for Mangos).
Should see: Applying: ScriptDev2 patch commit

So if you look in the /ScriptDev2/patches directory you will see the file you need to reference in the git command. The one I pulled down last night was: MaNGOS-7356-ScriptDev2.patch

I've got a couple of questions that maybe you can help me with.

I don't know what they are talking about in steps 3, 4 and 6. Have you done those?

3) Create the default ScriptDev2 database using "sql\create_database.sql", then execute "sql\scriptdev2_structure.sql" on that database.

4) Execute the included "sql\scriptdev2_script_texts.sql" on your ScriptDev2 database.

5) Optionally, apply scripts from ACID now.

6) Execute the included "sql\mangos_full_scripts.sql" on your MaNGOS database.

Its been down for a bit now - he might be stuck with school - Watch for this weekend

I decided to branch out solo (hehehe) - I'm up to rev 7553. But I use Silvermoon (PSDB) because of its content. DK side is working, while not official like, it has "work-arounds" until scripts come available. But at least you can play the DK side.

I like that frozen link, but I dont need all the goodies he has with it, just the database, scripts and new compile. not sure where that msi is getting the db/scripts - when i log on to sql it only shows my server db.

@venom -
I've been looikng for days for a character backup.if i find one i'll post it

EDIT:
oh i HAVE been out awhile - they switched from SVN to GIT. (which im not too fond of). Thats why I was "git"ing all the errors.

We'll I'll see how git does.

@ unknown
No problem. Lot of my info comes from thottbot and some other sites. I noticed weird stuff and started checking to see what had exactly changed. I havent played retail since early last summer so Im out of the loop as much as anyone else.

@ Venom

I havent tested it, but...the way you backup your characters is you do an sql dump of the characters DB using navicat. Just open the DB, then right click on it and click SQL dump. Now...again I have not tested to see if this will work. Ive got a test server up that Im getting ready to do some testing on (will soon be my dedicated server) so dont take my word as gospel yet.

Also when I did the dump it said something about some transfer problems at the end of the process. What that means I dunno. You also have to do something about upgrading the characters to the core you eventually use. Someone else might have some advice on that cuz I am clueless on a lot of this. Figuring it out as I go and asking questions as I need to, just like you.

Hope this helps. Anyone offer any better advice on backing up character DB?
