I all,
I have a problem on my Windows Vista that began afetr the purchase of an external Hard Disk Freecom.
A few days afetr the purchase I disconnected it while it was writing and, since that moment, every time I connect and disconnect it, the PC go to freeze mode for 5 minutes.
The same thing happen even if the hard disk is disconnected: every time I start windows it go to freeze a little after the password, and every time I connect and disconnect a usb device.
I have looked for the solution everywhere, updated windows, unistalled and installed the hard disk from the device manager but I solved the problem only when I restored a recent backup.
Yesterday the Hard disk was writing a backup while Vista was installing the updates; at the end of the proceure windows restarted automatically and the problem began again!!!
The Pc go to freeze when it starts, every time I connect or disconnect the hard disk, an usb earphone that has always worked switch on but there is no audio and I don't know how many others usb devices will have problems.
Has anyone an idea to solve this problem before I throw out of the window Vista or the the hard disk?
Thank you

I'm looking into upgrading my CPU to improve my gming speed on games like Pirate online and of course World of Warcraft. I have 512 MB of ram but I'm not sure what video card i have etc etc. All I know is that on especially Pirates Online, the lag is bad enough that I really want to upgrade and I'm tired of low graphics settings. What would be better for me to upgrade, my video card, or my ram, because I know 512 isn't all that much. Any ideas?

Hello all. I have recently smoothed out an install of widows 7. This is a dual boot machine. I did not have a dvd burner, so I used a virtual drive manager to mount the Win 7 install ISO, and then installed it to it's own drive ( D: on my system ). The main OS is Win XP pro, fully updated. The secondary OS is Win 7 RC1. I had to jump thru a few hoops to find and install video drivers for my video card, but so far it has been worth it. The only thing it will not install drivers for, besides my add-in video card, is the built in video chipset, and the add-in sound card. After searching I found a driver that worked fine with the add in video card, and the rest was easy (so to speak). My dxdiag text is below, and I will help anyone that needs it for setting up Win 7.

Problem : Friends can't connect (unable to connect)

What is functioning:
Mangos working for Lan (several computers connected)

What I've done:
installed everything...
Set up ports*
created a public host
edited hosts file

*No matter what i do, ports have shown as closed, On Utorrent they are closed, GRC displays stealthed.

Extras: When i change my ip to my lan ip in the realmlist table, lan computers can connect.
When i change my ip to my hostname, lan computers loop and outside computers still cannot connect.
(I did set up a hamachi with a friend and using my hamachi ip, he was able to get to a loop)

My hosts file reads:
127.0.0.1 localhost
Ip address localhost
Static LAN ip address localhost
Static LAN ip address Public Host
127.0.0.1 Static LAN ip address

Also when trying to create an account using a PHP registration page, the realm status is recognized while accounts are not created.
More info: If i enable remote access on my router and set up a port for it, the port is open, however I can only open a single port at time using that...

Someone please help, as you can see, i've thoroughly explored this problem and tried about everything. I believe it is likely due to port problems, I have tried other ports, which didn't work.

Tootle84 on "ATM (asynchronous transfer mode) and Cable"

ATM (asynchronous transfer mode) is a dedicated-connection switching technology that organizes digital data into 53-byte cell units and transmits them over a physical medium using digital signal technology. Individually, a cell is processed asynchronously relative to other related cells and is queued before being multiplexed over the transmission path.

Because ATM is designed to be easily implemented by hardware (rather than software), faster processing and switch speeds are possible. The prespecified bit rates are either 155.520 Mbps or 622.080 Mbps. Speeds on ATM networks can reach 10 Gbps. Along with Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) and several other technologies, ATM is a key component of broadband ISDN (BISDN).

ATM also stands for automated teller machine, a machine that bank customers use to make transactions without a human teller.

Cable internet is given through the local cable TV. A cable modem is used that enables Professional Website Design to hook up your PC to a cable TV line. The rate of transfer of data is about 1.5 Mbps. This data rate far exceeds that of the prevalent 28.8 and 56 Kbps telephone modems and the up to 128 Kbps of Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) and is about the data rate available to subscribers of Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) telephone service. A cable modem can be added to or integrated with a set-top box that provides your TV set with channels for Internet access. In most cases, cable modems are furnished as part of the cable access service and are not purchased directly and installed by the subscriber

The actual bandwidth for Internet service over a cable TV line is up to 27 Mbps on the download path to the subscriber with about 2.5 Mbps of bandwidth for interactive responses in the other direction. However, since the local provider may not be connected to the Internet on a line faster than a T-carrier system at 1.5 Mpbs, a more likely data rate will be close to 1.5 Mpbs.

In addition to the faster data rate, an advantage of cable over telephone Internet access is that it is a continuous connection

My friend and I have been playing revision 5472 (All Hail Reaper!), and we've both been noticing some glitches with the Hunter's Pet AI. As my friend says, "it has ADHD." Sometimes pet must be clicked to attack multiple times (or else it goes off and finds daisies, or something).

Also, I've noticed (after making a BloodElf) that there are numerous quests in the Blood Elf area (specifically in the forest surrounding Silvermoon City) that are glitched. Mainly has to do with events that are supposed to take place (i.e., the spawning of mobs) and do not.

My question for both of these glitches is: Are they self-treatable? I have no doubt that Reaper works very hard at what he does, and if it is possible to fix it myself (either by altering server settings or adding possible missing sql files) then I will happily do so. Thanks very much in advance.

A few friends and myself have set up a working server, however one of my friends had his computer attacked and disabled. the attacker locked him out of the computer and he had to format the drive and reinstall EVERYTHING. how likely was this due to the open ports with a live internet connection? I want to run my server for myself and 2 other 'local' computers as well as my friend's computer who would be logging in through the internet, but i am nervous now. are there special precautions i need to use when opening the ports?

Hi everyone,

Guys, I need some help, I'm now learning how to use MySQL, a got a little problem in executing sql batch files without the use of a gui tool, I'm trying to learn the basics form the command prompt and I don't know how to execute an sql batch file or even even in txt form.
the command syntax should like this: mysql < item_sets.sql or even a .dat file
but when i try to execute it the command prompts says can't find specified file.

the file location details are as follows:
c:\mysql\bin\ item_sets.dat or item_sets.sql => i made 2 separate files inside this the directory i created.
and i'm in my command prompt c:\document and settings\demokritos>

plz. help, i really want to learn how to use Mysql from the basics, although i know there is are gui tools out there that we can use, I just wanna learn from root (the code itself).

Thanks a lot for reading my post and for any tips or advice you could give...

Hey guys. I'm new to all this, but when I heard about the ability to host a local wow server, I had to try it! So everything has gone well for me as far as the server creationg, but I'm really bugged by the fact that the mobs all seem to have clipping problems and can even walk through walls! Sometime I can't even loot a corpse because it's sunk too far into the ground. I have the newest release, so I'm wondering if this is just a normal occurrence or if I'm missing something.

Also, I origninally installed the Mangos without Vmaps, but I reintalled them later with. Is there any way I can confirm that the vmaps are being used, cuz I really haven't seen much of a difference. Thanks!

While goofing around last night I found that it's possible to add your own teleport locations into the MangAdmin AddOn. While you are playing the game type '.tele add (name)' to add a teleport based on your current location, or you could find co-ordinates around the net. The teleports that you have added can be found in the mangos.game_tele table (you can ignore orientation column). Then go to World Of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\MangAdmin and open the TeleportTable.lua file (Wordpad will do just fine). The layout isn't complicated at all so just add them in following the same structure and your set.

Long time listener, first time poster.

We are trying to launch the server for the first time and log in. Launch of the site is successful, account creation works fine.

We run the two daemons, and edit the realmlist on the client so that it sees our realm.

When we try to log in with the client, we get to the realm selection screen. We make our choices, and it states that it assigns us to our realm. After a few seconds, it comes back to a realmlist with only our realm listed, and no matter how many times we try to join realm, it won't let us connect.

What we have tried thus far:
-checked networking: there are no port issues, the ports are open on the router to the best of my knowledge (Airport Express)
-checked database table realmlist. The private IP that is assigned to the machine (172.16.X.X) is assigned to the DB listing. I am confident that the DB is working based on the client on a different machine seeing the new realm.
-checked conf files. They will connect to the database and run the program if the conf files say "localhost" or "127.0.0.1", but not if they say the 172.16 IP.
-checked server.log and realmd.log. The only error in both is as follows (which if it's not the main problem I will deal with later):

2008-06-21 21:27:16 ERROR:Check existing of map file './maps/0004331.map': not exist!
2008-06-21 21:27:16 ERROR:Correct *.map files not found in path './maps' or *.vmap/*vmdir files in './vmaps'. Please place *.map/*.vmap/*.vmdir files in appropriate directories or correct the DataDir value in the mangosd.conf file.

-prayed. unfortunately this hasn't helped much.

After each of the above I have restarted the realmd and mangosd processes. Yes, even after the prayer. No good.

Is there anything else we can try?

Thank you in advance for any help you all can provide.

Hi, i installed the reaper mangos 5472 server from zero and everything goes well (auction house bot among the most important things).

I realized that the original table name for the characters: "characters.character" was changed to "characters.characters" in this 5472 version but i found an error with one of the GM commands.

The .namego command (for summoning offline/online players to my location) but it didn't work. The message "You are summoning xxxx" appears but the player is not moved to my location. After checking the mangosd console i saw an error message something like this:

Table "characters.character" not found (with more details of course)

Thats why i realize that the .namego command is still trying to use the original (old) name of the character table "characters.character", not "characters.characters" like the actual database.

Does anybody know some way to fix this? Or maybe another gm command not working also?
